That's a good question. What does everyone think? Should the chat forum be auto-purged after some amount of time, be it a few weeks or a month or two? Or should it be a permanent record like the main forum?
I wouldn't want to move off-topic threads back to the main forum for preservation, but I could add a "save" flag so that threads that are marked for archiving are never deleted while non-flagged threads in the chat forum would be auto-deleted after some period of time.
