While they don't advertise it, the service providers sell accounts suitable for his requirements. That makes the serial interface a realistic prospect. TCP/IP is too much of a burden, since all that has to happen is that he sends some telemetry to the base. The modem will know how to dial, and it will transmit the data fast enough.
This isn't my project, so I'm not worried about it. I was thinking that using a cellphone might work, but since an account can be procured for a modem, that'll be sufficient. RE |
