8052 was a mask Rom NMOS part, but certainly modern incarnations like the AT89LP52 are cheap (100:$0.659), fast, (1T,25MHz), has Wide Supply operation, and comes in a Multi-Sourced pinout. There are many new C51 variants, and the long-life cycles appeal is still there. An ARM offering that was going to kill of 8 bitters, has quietly gone EOL. |
