Aside from that, nobody could afford a war, least of all the Greeks. They're already bankrupt.
The big problem is that you have a drowning man who may take his rescuers with him. An even larger problem is that the man is drowning because of the system. With no unity in government, there's no muscle to enforce "rules" of how to run the economy. If one man is drowning, he expects others to save him. However, there's nothing to prevent him from falling into the same pool again. Countries enjoy the economic freedom gained through the absence of economic borders, yet they refuse to give up the absolute sovereignty that prevents the community from enforcing its rules. They can go right on spending more than they produce. RE |
