In addition to the date and time registers, the DS1307 also has 56 bytes of RAM you can use at your own discretion. Use one of those bytes as a flag to see whether or not the clock was initialised.
This is most probably what was done in whatever article you read (was it this one perhaps?) about the value of location 0x3F. -Rob. |
