#181111 - Flea86 vs Audrino
Responding to: ???'s previous message

I've never come across the Audrino, but your project doesn't seem to be pitched as a competitor.

You're right, it isn't. Though with a revision of my design to suitably configured hardware, that could change IMHO. Games aside, one nice aspect of the 'Flea86' design, is the possibility to develop DOS user applications directly on the target. Why anyone would want to develop for an 8086 CPU target in 2011 is entirely another matter.. Just Saying :-)

Mind you, as I'd never heard of the Audrino I don't see how it can claim to have won any kind of popularity contest.

Audrino is simply a complete open-source platform/framework, initially built around Atmel's AVR - itself currently one of the popular micro's of the hobbyist world. Numerous peripheral add-ons have since been developed specifically for the Audrino.

150k units isn't earth shattering.

In the context of the intended user markets (educational/hobbyist/OEM's) 150k is still a nice start. Wonder if that figure included all the clones too?
