Most of them communicate using whats called Weigand protocol. You can Google it to learn more. Basically it uses 2 data lines, one for 0 bits and another for 1 bits. Hi Bruce: I like to try interfacing one to an 89c4051 or 8052 as learning experiment. Then make my own reader with out using the wigand26 protocol as experiment with my tag if possible.
