#171432 - Ready Made Enclosures Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Sherif:
There are many variables to be worked out with respect to packaging for your project. As you consider what to do you may want to look at ready made plastic enclosures. One company that makes some fine looking enclosures is PacTec which you can see online at www.pactec.com. Out of the many enclosure types that they offer one of my favorites is the BM or DM series. Specfically I have used both the BM-2 and DM-2 styles. You can see the BM-2 here: http://www.pactecenclosures.com/Plastic-E.../BM-2.html Pactec enclosures are now ordered direct from the company via their web site. In the past it was possible to get certain models from distribution sites such as Mouser, Allied, Digikey, Newark and others but now most sites have stopped stocking them and only have residual inventory remaining. With this type of enclosure you can easily replace the front and rear panel plates with a steel or aluminum plate that has been cutout to match your switch/LED/display/connector requirements. I typically use a metal shop vendor that can laser cut the panel from my CAD drawing. The panels can be easily finished via painting, pad printing, anodize or die cut Lexan labels that stick on. When you use one of these enclosures for your product it is necessary to adapt your circuit board design to fit to the mounting points inside the box. For this reason I highly recommend having an actual box in hand before starting to design the "product" version of your electronics. Good Luck Michael Karas |
