... I co-invented a high current H- volume production ion source. I was working for the SSC Laboratory at the time, so they (the DOE) own the patent. I got a bonus check for $100 (maybe it was $150, I don't remember exactly), and would have been entitled to royalties on any commercial exploitation.
Unfortunately, the only applications for a high current H- volume production ion source are high energy particle accelerators and space-based missle defense systems. There's just not a lot of retail demand in either of those. Joe |
