#158826 - My 20-year-old Unisite still gets support Responding to: ???'s previous message |
It still gets support updates for new devices, but they're not free. The Unisite doesn't require a PC, either, but it weighs 45 pounds and wants to talk to a terminal.
You can program multiple parts with 'em, though, so they're suitable for production use. I gave away my multiple (8, IIRC) DIP-48 adapter because I don't do production. My old XELTEK programmer works fine, though it doesn't, and never did, program many of the parts they advertised. My old in-the-briefcase programmer from Tribal Microsystems (rip) didn't do much better, though it didn't damage the then-costly parts it never programmed properly. I've found the BP products to be unsuitable for volume use, being slower than most of their competition. They're very effective, though. RE |
