Much better, actually. If you repeat the code once, you can reliably detect all 1-bit errors, but you cannot correct them. If you repeat twice, you can also correct all 1-bit errors, but fail at correcting 2-bit errors. With a proper hamming code, you need far fewer bits and get multi-bit detection and correction capabilities. |
