#153751 - Here\'s a handy gadget |
For those who want LED display via serial (not async) interface, this looks like it might be useful.
http://www.sure-electronics.net/mcu,displ...P002-1.jpg it comes with one of these http://www.sure-electronics.net/mcu,displ...P002-2.jpg and the manual is here. http://www.sure-electronics.net/mcu,displ...-DP002.pdf Now, I haven't tried this, but it looks like the answer to many queries that have appeared from time to time. The boards appear to be well made, though the silkscreen isn't very easy to understand. It appears that the mounting holes and board size are such that one can easily cascade both the displays and the driver boards. In small to medium (<100) quantity it's not unusual for single-digit LED displays to cost US$1 or so, these might be "just the thing" for your recurring display needs. They cost $6 + $10 shipping, which is, superficially, expensive, but if you add the cost of a driver circuit, well, you can decide. RE |
