#141320 - I have to agree with the caution
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I've found the S.O.S. or Brillo pads are (a) too coarse, and (b) tend to leave a soap scum behind that is often not very easy to wash off. This tends to accumulate at the track edges and in the scratches made by the too-coarse steel wool.

YMMV, of course.

I've had passable results by washing the boards in the diswhasher before soldering. However, simply using #00 steel wool has never disappointed me.
