#141149 - I had a similar problem recently
Responding to: ???'s previous message

The spikes in my case where when the motor stopped ( relay contact opened) - but my processor wasn't affected - it was the PC side of things that got upset. I used a varistor (MOV) across the motor. THe other problem you may have it the supply dropping when you reversethe motor - peak current is drawn and that may cause your power rail to drop low enough to affect the 5V regulator. Usually best to have separate supplies.
