Some product for doing torque measurement used two coils - one for the power that was running a few khz and another for the load feedback which was a variable frequency based on the load.

You could also make a alternator! Just have a rotating polepiece and some magnets - viola!

I suppose the critical thing is the amount of energy you want to couple and the mechanical aspects of it.
