Is it possible to transfer audio over xbee?

This is my plan, plz check if it is feasible.

1) Convert audio into PCM (using A to D).
2) Transfer it serially over xbee.
3) Recieve it on another xbee.
4) Convert back to audio(using d to a).

The reason I wanna use an xbee only is because I already am using it for message transfer. If possible please specify the hardware which will be required.
