#136750 - Reading protected code Responding to: ???'s previous message |
While I have seen many legitimate reasons for "deassembling" FPGAs, it is hard to thing of a "good" reason to unlock a code locked uP.
The only one I can think of is checking a competitor’s part to see if they have stolen your code, as a prelude to a lawsuit. The verbiage about the product being “for educational purposes only” is a give away for their real intent. As a side note, in our reverse engineering of the 89C668, we discovered multiple security holes in the IAP / ISP routines. We fixed them in our product, but I don't plan on publishing the details. I'll eventually get around to notifying NXP, if I ever figure out who to notify. "There but for the grace of God go I..." |
