there was already a lot of reasearch going on about using palladium to store hydrogen ions and create very high pressures in the palladium electrodes and the work that whats his face and thingy were doing was nothing very original it was only because the university got the idea that there was money in it that it got all the headlines. some very dodgy science got turned into the next big thing.
