#133647 - tree-structured manual search Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Maybe what's needed is a tree-structured directory of substantial entries, i.e. excepting those that have no technical substance. Every time a query is posted, it must, necessarily fit into some general category, be it hardware, firmware, development tools, etc. Under each of those can be many subcategories.
New posts should be categorized in some way anyway, so the O/P can select a couple of categories into which his query fits. Implicit in this notion is the enormous task of categorizing the last decade's queries into some sort of discernible order, with backward links into each category into which the query fits. One natural difficulty will be identifying which category or categories is/are appropriate. Unfortunately, without a list, software can't even identify "key words." It could be a big improvement, though, and save a lot of bandwidth while greatly increasing the utility of the website. RE |
