I though on this more tonight and I think, that what is REALLY irreplaceable is something I know no better word for than "spirit" (maybe also "circumstances").
Before that fire we suffered, there were two groups (of 3-4) of developers working on a new product concurrently. One of the groups was ahead of the other, when their prototype burned in the fire (all the equipment, sources etc. were saved - the offices were in an other building).
