#131378 - Replacement for Procomm Plus? |
Seeing David Gal's thread "better version of hyperterminal?" prompts me to also ask, can anyone recommend a replacement for Procomm Plus?
I didn't want to side-track that thread, hence the new one. Procomm has a long history, starting way back in MS-DOS character-mode days (as shareware?), and has had many owners - including quarterdeck, datastorm, and symantec. I beleive that it is still available from symantec, but it hasn't been supported for years. I have Procomm Plus-32 v4.7 of 1998. The basics still all work fine, but it's showing its age by not coping well with multiple screens, not coping at all with COM ports >9, etc - and, of course, no support. The really key feature of Procomm Plus for me is its Aspect scripting language - which is very much like 'C' specifically tailored for serial comms. (so, when it's not quite worth doing it in Borland, I do a Procomm script). So the key question is: can anyone recommend a PC terminal emulator with a scripting facility as powerful as Procomm's? |
