#128514 - multipoint comm on ethernet |
Hello Forum.
Recently i got a request from a client. He had designed a control system, and wanted to expand it from stand alone to some multipoint system. The present hardware has two serial ports. I could add a converter, and write or adapt some 485 type bus systems. There is almost no time at all to do this, so I did do some headscratching in order to come up with a less time consuming solution. Since we will have to add hardware in form of a conterter or other add on board, I thought of using a serial device server. Then I could simply send out comannds or requsts on the serial port, and let the device servers hardware TCP/IP handle all the comms stuf. Is this a way to go - or are all your red lamps flashing? Comments greatly apreciated Ha' en fortsat god søndag Per |
