Also, I tried once to repair a regulated 0-200V power supply for electrophoresis (an analythical method where proteins are separated when running current through them on a suitable substrate - my sister works in a lab in the local hospital and she wanted to do some experimental work); and my screwdriver slipped into those infamous resorvoir capacitors... It remained welded onto them, and some segments of that nice big LED display turned from green to black... I repaired the source finally, but could not get below 100V - that was at the beginning of 90s and I could not get here a proper HV transistor and those we got here (mainly intended for horisontal flyback in TVs) were rather leaky...
