I have no problem hand-soldering TQFPs and TSSOPs and such. The secret is to use the proper tool: I like Metcal. Get the right tips, too.
I have the Hakko hot-air tool referenced in the article. It works well for removing parts. You just have to make sure that you don't set it too hot; otherwise you'll scorch the board. -a |
