Hi Grant,
Years ago, when I was still running under DOS, I had dual monitors on a single system for running AutoCAD. I put the drawing screen on a graphics monitor and the command line on its own text monitor. It was easier to look back at my recent commands without switching screens. It was great for that one application, but frankly the dual screen wasn't that big an advantage with any other applications. Of course now I have seven monitors, but each one has its own computer.
