Since you undoubtedly are also a student of English, I'd point out that "circuit" is spelled with a 'u' after the 'c' because, in general, a 'C' followed by an i, e, or y is pronounced as a "soft" c, like an 's,' while one followed by an a, o, u, or a consonant, is pronounced as a "hard" 'c', like a 'K.' As with any rule, there are, undoubtably, exceptions. The 'c' in circuit is pronounced like a 'K." RE |
