It's already eating us alive, and believe me, WE the taxpayers don't want that role.
Sadly, the U.S. has taken on that role because it used to benefit big business. It no longer does that. They used to bribe the officials in the countries where they wanted something because is was expedient. It no longer is. Everywhere the U.S. sends representatives, be they salesmen or missionaries, the first thing they do is to tell the residents of that culture, millenia older than the U.S. what they're doing wrong. I don't think it's always wrong, but it's surely the wrong message. A little humility and a little study of what they're doing right might be in order. Will "WE" ever learn? I doubt it. RE |
