What kind of clearance should be used for the copper pours? You mean the "aura"? I use 0.3mm. Jon said:
I'm now experimenting with more advanced layout tools. By the way, I'm using "Target", a german professional layout program: http://www.ibfriedrich.com/english/engl_pcbcad.htm I'm very familiar with it and can say that it's much better than "Eagle" or "Orcad", for instance, at least to me. You can change everything, have automatic ground fill instructions, can design your own symbols, have deep level undo ability, etc. Biggest advantage is that you can work extremely fast with it, because many of the instructions are mouse button based: Left, right, single and double click, left and right simultaneously. So, you don't need to move the mouse pointer to any small icon far away from the layout window on the screen. The zoom function, which you will always use is very simple too, also mouse button based. Only disadvantage is, what I have also reported in the past here, that the program hangs from time to time. So, you should have safed your project automatically every two minutes or so. There's a cheap test version, you can buy. Kai |
