#112408 - well, if you believe the urban legend th Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Just been sent some code which has LONG_frickING_VariaBLE_Names_WITH_LOTS_of_UNDERScores_RanDOM_CApitisatION and its driving me nuts.I hate it dont do it,why do people do it??? especialy fricking C++ programmers
well, if you believe the urban legend that C is self-documenting and insist on it, what other way do you have to "comment". The real "advantage" of this is that most statements become more than 500 characters long and thus are utterly unreadable. So, let us file this under "Real C". I require a written excuse (not really, but almost) for any C statement that does not fit in 120 characters including indention. Erik PS, the only person ever working for me insisting on "Real C" (his name for it) did lose his job. Not because of having written "Real C" but for refusing to change. PPS I have heard of undetectable errors happening because a compiler only used the first (was it) 32 characters of a name. |
