#109496 - Fake dollars notes scam! Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I just remembered an old scam, you may have heard this before. One Indian claiming to have lived in the US for many years, spread the word around in the city of Calcutta that he had a lot of unaccounted wealth in high denomination US$ notes that he would like to offload, at a discount. He managed to offload ~US$500,000 before someone bothered to check if the notes were real.
Of course they were not, but by then he vanished. And he was a real smart scamster. The denomination he printed had never been issued by the US treasury. So when these conned people approached the appropriate US agency for reporting the trick, they were told that since it was not a valid denomination, legally it was not a forgery and US govt could do nothing about. Of course they did not approach the Indian law enforcement, because they would not be able to explain their source of Indian money. |
