Personally I prefer Die Zauberflote.
I saw that once performed by the musical departement at a university. That was true Mozart, it was not the greatest singers in the world (they were good) but you could feel the engagement and joy pouring out from the stage. Then, of course Ingmar Bergman collected the cream of the crop and filmed it, most enjoyable as well. A small joke: in that version Zaratustra was performed by the worlds greatest basso Ulrik Cold (he is over 2m tall) BTW do you realize Mozart invented ragtime? If not listen to the 2nd movement of pianoconcerto no 21 played by Geza Anda and you will. Erik |
