Normally rather than tell the solution outright, I ask a project student to elaborate on the problem (s)he is facing. Sometimes, after a couple of iterations, you can see it dawning on their faces that they have figured out at least part of the solution, if not the complete answer.
That way, not only have they obtained the answer, but also learned a lot more than they would have if you had just given the solution up-front. This is why "gimmee code" requests so often get short shrift here! As Erik says, Teach a man to fish, and he can feed himself for a lifetime! |
