Many Power-MOSFETs have a built-in protection diode which becomes conducting whenever drain is more positive than source. This drain to source diode would shunt the inductive kick to C5 and charge it, when the coil is suddenly switched-off. In your schematic this built-in drain to source diode isn't shown, which I assumed to be the drawing mistake I mentioned. Kai |
