This shows that you need to read the relevant data sheets and choose suitable components.

Since many students don't even understand Ohm's Law, I suspect that they will struggle with this.

All the same, the moral of the story is:
1. decoupling capacitors are not very critical for absolute value. Size matters.

2. "timing" capacitors need specific calculations. Accept that 'stable' values may imply some size penalty.

Wouldn't it be nice if the Education system had better standards ?
