IIRC, Signetics was acquired by Philips back in '88 or '89, and through that transaction, Philips acquired the licenses to manufacture a number of Intel-originated parts including 8048-series and 8031/8051-series parts. I never did read/hear anything about SiLabs being, in any sense, involved with Signetics, in any cooperatitve or other relationship.
Have you any specific historical information about that? I'm curious about this because SiLabs' website indicates they were founded in 1996. There are some old Signetics devices that are no-longer available anywhere, that would be handy, IMHO, and I'd like to track them down. RE |
