Recently I have been evaluating the at89lp828 micro controller from Atmel. So far so good. One "problem" I found is that the data sheet indicates that the RC oscillator frequency is about 8 MHz, but in actuality is around 9.2 MHz. That difference may be due to the value of the "RC Oscillator Calibration Byte", which, according to the data sheet, is factory-set. I tried with three different ICs and they all run at 9.2 MHz. Has anybody else had some similar experiences with this IC? By the way, I am happy with 9.2 MHz because most of the standard serial port baud rates can be easily obtained with this frequency.
