Why not post the final result? It would be interesting to see how well you have 'improved' on your original code.

Personally, I think that this is a useful student exercise. i.e. search for ideas and advice on the internet, implement the advice, create a well documented project.

Your teacher will look at your final assignment and mark you accordingly. She will 'know' whether it is your work by the quality of your explanation.

IMHO, there is no point in re-inventing the wheel, but you must have a clear understanding of why 'round' is best, how the design of axles and bearings affect performance.
