#181623 - Automatic Adjustment Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Here in the USA there is a time transmission service called WWVB that broadcasts on long wave at 60KHz. This sends a time code once each minute that allows a receiver to accurately sync a local RTC. Receivers like this are used in the so called "atomic clocks" that have auto adjust capability. One can buy an inexpensive module that embodies the receiver and pre-tuned antenna for about 10U$D. Below are two links where this module can acquired:
http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10060 http://search.digikey.com/scripts/D...&x=22&y=17 I have played around with one of these modules and found them to work indoors in my house in the day or night as long as I kept it more than 4 feet from a computer or away from massive metal objects such as my cloths washer machine. There are a number of other long wave radio stations that also transmit time codes. One is the DCF station in Germany that operates at 77KHz. The company that makes the above module also makes the chips used on these modules. They have one chip called the CME8000 that is capable of receiving the long wave time codes from the stations WWVB, DCF77, JJY, MSF and HBG. Below is a link to the product page. There is other information to be had by poking around the C-Max web site. http://www.c-max-time.com/products/...t.php?id=1 Some other links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HBG_%28time_signal%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_from_NPL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JJY http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DCF77 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWVB At the present time I am not sure if any of these long wave time code radio stations are able to be picked up in your country. You could check into this and see if any commercial "atomic clocks" are being sold and successfully deployed in your area. Michael Karas |
