It wasn't a matter of handwritten vs computer that got me; it's the fact that he was actually using chalk - as opposed to whiteboard.
Even back when I was a student (which is, shockingly, >25 years ago!) the prof wouldn't even have had the choice of chalk, because there were no chalkboards - they were all whiteboards! Using power point tends to make the learning process not as enjoyable Actually, I looked at a couple of lectures, and thought exactly the opposite! What, I thought, is the point of watching him writing out stuff longhand on the board? Just a matter of taste Yes, of course! PowerPoint is just a tool - it can be used badly, or used well. Used well, it can really add great benefits not possible with chalk/white boards; used badly, as you say, it can be a hindrance rather than a help. |
