#177946 - It's easy to measure "after the event" Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Anyway somehow people measure and compare their new designs with previous ones and finally they present such result e.i. “out design consume less power and more power efficient as that one in the same conditions”. Yes, of course it's easy to measure a specific system underspecific conditions - but it's hard to draw general conclusions that can then be applied to other designs! The nature of the application has a far greater impact on the overall system consumption than specific features of the processor chip... Just like the types of journeys and driver's style cause vast variations in the fuel economy that different owners see from notionally the "same" car! |
