Take a look at this neat introduction:
http://www.8051projects.net/keypad-in...uction.php They tell you how the keypad is supposed to operate as switches and simple interfacing techniques along with your sample code. This site also has some sample assembly code located in the "code library" tab to the left. If you do not want to get heavy into decoding a keypad, (and people on this forum will yelp about me offering this as well) then one can easily use the 74C922 or the 74C923. They also take care of debouncing via timing caps, so you do not have to program it yourself or if you're low on pin count. |
