"The pin" is already in input mode when your processor comes out of reset. It is in input mode with a weak pull-up to avoid pins to float.
NXP have very, very good user manuals for their processors. And there are a number of good books and example code available. For some of the development boards, the example code includes how to emit text on the mounted on the board. But as you might have noted - the availability of good ARM sample code is about zero on this site since ARM != 8051. |
