#174838 - User manual? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Laura,
Whilst good knowledge of 8051 assembly isn't absolutely required, a good understanding of the underlying hardware architecture is. Sounds like you need the 8051 Architecture User Manuals (which are also found in the FAQ on this site, but here's another link to them). Have you searched though these yet? Generally speaking, virtually everything you need to know about a specific processor type (e.g. 8051, PIC18, ARM7) can be found in the product user manual relating to that processor. These manuals (especially hardware-oriented manuals) usually contain simple block diagrams along with other info to allow the designer (i.e. you) to understand the principle of operation of a specific portion(s) of the hardware (or in your case, TIMER0 and it's related MODE 2 function). Once the underlying hardware functionality is understood, the math behind obtaining TL0/TH0 values becomes quite simple indeed! :-) Hope the above was helpful, though I do not see any point in simply telling you what those values for TL0/TH0 are, without you gaining an understanding of how those values were derived. Good luck! Cheers, Valentin |
