#172377 - I've always had to do that!

There are no "electronics stores" or other non-distributor outlets in the area where I live.

I have never lived in an area where there was a local "electronics store" where you could buy components over the counter.

Mail Order has always been the "norm" here; when I started, it was real mail order - where you posted your hand-written order form with your cheque.
Nowadays, of course, it's all online - but it's still effectively the same thing.

All you need is a bank account.

Or a friend, relative, or colleague with a bank account.

When I started, I was too young to have a bank cheque account - so I would give my Dad the cash, and he'd write a cheque.

(nowadays the roles are reversed - I order stuff for Dad on my RS account!)
