Important to remember that HCT - but not HC - can be used as step-up from 3.3V to 5V, since HCT has compatible input levels with the 74LS family while the output is compatible with CMOS, i.e. swinging full range. A 74HC chip on the other hand requires full swing on the input signals too, so it can't be used to step up from 3.3V to 5V. |
