#165656 - You really should have said that in the first place!
Responding to: ???'s previous message
You would have saved a whole lot of everybody's time if you had clearly explained the situation in the first place!

yes its a black box, and manufacturer is out of businesses and it would be impossible to talk to them...

So why don't you quote the manufacturer's name, and the full product identification?
Maybe someone else has worked with it, or knows about it...

Are any of their former distributors still in business? - they may still have information.

Are there any other companies still offering support for this product?

Have you searched for details on other products in the range - it is quite common for a manufacturer to use the same protocol (or very similar) across a whole range of products...

Have you checked if this is some common industry protocol?

In short, have you googled thoroughly?

I said:
If you are simply trying to implement an existing protocol, that really doesn't matter - you just have to implement whatever the protocol requires!

sorry but i didn't get the idea.

What I mean is, there is no point in getting into a general discussion on the various merits & demerits of different types of CRC, and other means of error detection - all you need to know is the particular method used by this particular product.
