A regular motor will take equal currents through each phase. So you only need to measure one phase. If you get an unusual reading, (zero or massive) then you have a serious fault.
Smoke normally happens pretty fast. From a protection point of view, you need to monitor each phase for massive current. You only need an accurate measurement of the working load current which you can do on one phase with a normal current transformer. David. |
