#164217 - What Is Printer's Response
Hi Friends,

I am writing a program for a device that receives data from parallel port & analyse it. Tested it by replacing EPSON LX300 + printer from computer. This analyser works fine (received data is varified with physical printout on printer).

Tested same by replacing printer with this device for few more equipments(works fine).
For one of the equipment this device is receiving some characters, but inprocess that equipment hangs. On analysing the data it shows following repeatedly " ESC @ ESC E" (0x1B 0x40 0x1B 0x45). This pattern repeats.

Meaning of these commands
ESC @: Reset Printer
ESC E: Select the bold print mode

As the instrument repeatedly trnasmit data & hangs, it means it is expecting some response from printer.

I searched on web (google, wikipedia) also checked manuals for EPSON printers. But none makes any comments how the printer reacts to these commands OR any other commands for that matter.

If anyone knows anything about it please tell me
Does printer tell its master if it is reseted? (by means of any handshake pin or anyother)

Regards,
Mahesh
