RS-232 Specifications?
Submitted By: Andy Neil FAQ Last Modified: 04/21/08
- The so-called "RS-232" specification is now officially "ANSI/TIA-232" (formerly "EIA/TIA-232").
Unfortunately, the TIA is still one of those old-school organisations that doesn't believe in making its standards available for free download.
:-(
However, the standard can be purchased for download from their website, http://www.tiaonline.org
The equivalent ITU-T Recommendations are:
V.24 - Signal names & functions;
V.28 - Electrical characteristics.
These are available for free download from http://www.itu.int
Note that the "RS-232" (et al) standard refers specifically to the 25-Way D-type connector; the 9-Way standard is TIA-574
